NFL to not show draftees until they are picked.
According to Sports Illustrated's Richard Deitsch, after the league met with ESPN and the NFL Network on Wednesday, the three entities have decided to turn up the intrigue on the drama.
Deitsch writes that the NFL Network and ESPN have agreed not to ?show a draftee on the phone in the Green Room prior to the pick on the first night of the NFL Draft.? In past years obviously, those Green Room shots let the viewer knew who Roger Goodell was about to announce before Goodell could get to the podium and actually say the name.
This way, nobody except the draftee -- and whoever is sitting next to him in the Green Room -- will know which player the next team on the clock will take until Goodell announces it.

Don't be on twitter during the draft or this won't matter.

Hate Berman enough as is, but nothing annoys me more. Drives me right to NFLN.
The other pet peeve is focusing on the first round during Round 6. If you're still watching at that point, you're a real draft fan and care about the current selections way more than the piece you've seen 25 times by now about Luck.

This probably has as much to do with the fact that they know as little or nothing about the 5th round draft picks as you do. I might trust a Kiper or McShay or Mike Mayock type to talk about them, but I'm guessing they don't even know all these guys with enough depth to really talk about them.

I was worried when I saw this thread that they were not going to show draftees waiting to be drafted in case they dropped in the draft and got their feelings hurt.
Back when I used to watch the draft that was one of my favorite parts.

No ...But ESPN had Luck & RG3 on a interview today naming them as the top 2 picks. A forgone conclusion but the 1st half hour will be pretty boring!

Yeah right, Boomer."That's long overdue," Berman says. "I talked to producers for years about how they were ruining the draft. I'm not saying we should suppress the news. I don't mean fake things, but there should be some suspense. I liked it better before there were cameras everywhere. But then, I liked life better before there were cameras everywhere."
And, Berman says, "Contrary to what's been written, the NFL doesn't tell ESPN ? and I don't get it in my ear ? about picks beforehand."
