Thread: White Sox T.V. Announcers

There are three teams that I actively root against -- the Yankees and Bosox for obvious reasons, and the White Sox because of their radio and television announcers. They don't come across as fans of the game itself, just the team that is signing their paychecks.

Oh man. I CANNOT stand Harrelson. I would rather mute the TV, and just watch the picture than to have to listen to his stupid catch phrases.

I think Hawk is the worst around as well. Massive homer with very grudging respect to the other team. Little quality analysis, IMO.

During one of the games, I think maybe the third one, Harrelson called Reimold (I'm paraphrasing but I think this is what he said) "the strongest leadoff hitter I've seen in the last 25 years."

My best friends all went to ND, and I bandwagon during the football season because my team (Wake Forest) 1) rarely has a team, and 2) plays in a conference that barely counts, regardless. In fact, I've taken down multiple Four Horsemen in one sitting at CJ's (a bet I regret) and drinks at the Backer.
But apart from ND's campus (which is drop-dead gorgeous), you have to admit that South Bend (not the nearby, affluent areas) is kind of a hole...and that's putting it nicely.

It's a good thing Hawk isn't the Orioles announcer. The OOC thread would run out of room. Check out his quotes from the soundboard.

Thanks. My Fiance? is an ND grad, so is her whole family, so it's a dream come true for her.
Yes you are right, South Bend and Mishawaka and so forth aren't the best areas. Low income areas and all.
But they have Steak n Shakes, and now a Del Taco. Yum! I hadn't had Del Taco in 10 years at least.
I had a 4 horsemen @ Legends on Saturday before the Blue and Gold game, it was delich.

Being in South Carolina and subjected to a horrible cable company, I don't always get my choice of announcers. I've got MLB.TV for the first time this year through my PS3 (which gives me the announcer choice). That being said, I've been forced to listen to many a crew the past few years. The White Sox are up near the top in terms of the worst. They tend to speak well of the Orioles when we play them, but their extreme "homerism" is painful. For all the flaws of Thorne and Palmer, we have one of the top crews in the bigs by far. If you get annoyed by the O's crew, then consider yourself lucky because it could be a million times worse.
