I don't think there is any way that he could have anticipated that throw. He was running full speed, like he should have.

Has he actually thrown a strike past two batters?

Apparently someone I know is sitting right behind the photographers' well on the first base side, a couple rows back.

When Jones gets emotional he loses all his discipline.

Also, I guess Nick and Andino can't get a look at those throws and realize they could slide in to first and make it safely?

One of his biggest assets his is plate discipline. The umpiring has a real effect on a hitter like Nick.

Kirby can see it, and he should be yelling at them to slide.

You don't have to slide head first to dodge a tag. Also, guys slide head first all the time, it doesn't normally give concussions. B-Rob probably got concussed on the slide only because he hit himself in the head 10,000 times with his bat.

I think the "don't slide into first" thing isn't about concussions or whatever, it's about people saying since you can run through first base it's not really worth it. But in these cases Pujols couldn't make the force play and a slide could have evaded the tag (not saying Nick had a way of knowing he needed to slide though)

I like how he took a long walk after that second strike swing

Williams is not a good pitcher, we can get to him.
