Close...but Reynold's likely makes all three of those plays. Betemit looks SLOW and his arm was as poor as I have ever seen from a major leaguer.

That had to be one of the worst throws to first base from a third baseman in major league history. Lollipops are embarrassed to be compared to that throw.

Even I am losing faith in Reynolds at this point, but I disagree that he should moved off of third this early, and I think the Orioles have handled this situation very poorly. You publicly state that you're committed to playing someone at a certain position and then two games into the season you go back on that and start DH'ing him most of the time? Even though he's still getting some chances there, it certainly can't be helpful that now he has to fear that if he makes another mistake out there he might never see the field again. Whether you want Reynolds to play third or not, that's just bad management.

And honestly, if you're going to move anyone to DH based on what's happened so far this season it should be Reimold - he's made the same number of errors as Reynolds despite playing a much easier position. If you really wanted to optimize the defense as far as the everyday starters go, you'd have Flaherty at 3B, Reynolds in LF, and Reimold at DH with Betemit on the bench. Arguing over whether you prefer the errors at third base to be committed by Reynolds or Betemit seems pretty pointless...

Personally, I think tolerating poor defense for extended periods sends a very bad message to the rest of the team. I also agree with the poster that said neither guy really belongs at third base every day.

Oriole plays at the corners is like watching a Little League game. You never know where the ball will end up.

I have no statistical argument as to wether the bats will outweigh the poor defense, but this is absolutely brutal to watch.

Weakness isn't the issue. Accuracy on the other hand is even more necessary given Chris Davis's questionable range receiving throws.

I think Buck is a genius. He's played Betemit at 3B a good bit. Now, when Reynolds goes back out there he won't look nearly as bad as before.

I agree with this. His arm strength is fine. He just ended up short arming that throw yesterday.
