For once a bad break goes against the Yankees.

The Mariners just Bedard'ed the Yankees. Well, Bedard-lite.

It's okay, the Yankees will just buy another starter. No loss here. It's just money, right?

The Yankees have been showing indications that they plan to get under the salary cap since the new CBA went into effect. They do have some pitching in the minors.

This is all true, but you will forgive me for being skeptical. I think the Yanks will just go buy someone else. It's their nature...

I do feel bad for Pineda. Labrum injuries have the least successful rehab rate for all arm injury to pitchers. Except maybe spiral fractures...

The big difference here is that they lost a really promising young bat and a decent bullpen/5th starter in noesi. And with everyone seemingly extending future free agents the ability to spend their way out of this is diminished. Now the young kid in A ball has been great so fat so it might not be a complete bust for the yanks.

This is a big loss for NYY. Montero was a major chip for them to deal.

I thought the annual list of young pitchers at injury risk included Pineda and he blew up in the second half. So, there were warning flags.

The NYY still have Betances, Banuelos (sp) and one or two other pitching prospects, but this is a blow to NYY. Hopefully, there are a few more down the road.

The next great thing would be if Jeter fell down a flight of stairs. Just kidding. Kind of.

Yes he is, and you expect the Skanks to throw money at the problem. But I really do believe they try to reign in payroll. I forget the exact details, but there are some SERIOUS penalties in this new CBA. Not just loss of $$$ anymore, but loss of picks and I forget what else.

I hate to admit I kinda hope several of the mega long term contracts the Yankees signed end in injury disaster.

    RedSox also.

Yes and no... I'd like to see Jeter remain perfectly healthy and drag his over the hill butt out to SS EVERY day! Make his well-advanced decline hurt the team, EVERY DAY!

Beat me to it by ten minutes, haha.

I want Jeter exactly where he is. He's hot now but that won't last.

The Yankees got took! Give the Mariners credit, they probably saw signs which explains why any team would trade a possible young TOR. I never understood this trade fromthe Mariners standpoint, but now I do. Anytime the Yankees get screwed it's a good thing.
