Not so bold... 5+ innings, 4 runs, all given up in the 6th. Walks, hits, homers, errors, whatever. A meltdown.

That would not be good for Matusz. I'm expecting bad as well.......but hoping for good.

Yeah, hoping for good. I still am high on Brian overall, but right now... I don't think he can handle the grind while trying to get himself back on track.

I'm thinking tomorrow night is a slugfest. I hope Matusz can keep some modicum of composure and come out on top.

I think Matusz will pitch a strong game. I think he pitched well the last one and was screwed by his D. That won't happen thid time. I think he gets a W.

He needs to keep the ball down in the zone.

Easier said than done, but this is it in a nutshell.

It's all about overthrowing. If he keeps his mechanics sound, he'll be fine. If he's throwing his right shoulder open, he'll be ineffective and wild high.

My prediction: Matusz gets lit up, doesnt make it thru 4 and we see Gregg.

    Hopefully I'm 100% wrong.

Man, I hope you're wrong. I could go a lifetime without seeing Gregg.

At least it's not his first start. Then we'd be virtually guaranteed to get blanked!

Matusz should be working things out in the minors, and yes, proving that he is good enough to pitch in the majors. He's lost all of the credibility that he built in 2010. In a way, I am actually rooting against him so that the O's do realize that he needs to be in the minors.

Of course, I'd love it if he went out and pitched superbly, but the more likely scenario based on what i've seen is that he pitches poorly and either gets bombed or gets lucky. Worst case is the poor pitching lucky performance. Keeps him around longer.

I still see Matusz as a very important part of the O's future, but i hate that he's been an auto-Loss for over a year now. Give me a Berken or Eveland or whomever to at least give us a chance til Matusz gets straight. If the O's slip out of contention at some point this year, or if Matusz regains his command at AAA, bring him back up. But let's at least try to compete until it's apparent that we can't.
