Orioles Offense the Last 8 Games
They have scored 3, 1, 5, 3, 3, 3, 2 and 3 runs. In that time they are 5-3. The consensus is that the offense will improve. I hope so. If our pitching stays this good, we will contend imo.

They said something like 10 players had the flu. Markakis is/was playing sick. Reimold's neck problem. Great that they can keep winning through that kind of a period.

Our offense is supposed to be a tick better than last year, IMHO. So, slightly above average, but nowhere remotely close to an elite level team.
Now, if Wieters, Reimold, and Jones can continue to rake and Reynolds/Hardy can get out of their respective funks, we might have a decently above average hitting team.

I *think* it's generally accepted that offenses start slower in cold weather and heat up in warm weather. So, our offense should improve and our pitching should take a step back, in theory.

11 wins and 9 saves so far.

We could a blow out now and then for sure. Saves the bullpen bigtime and lowers the overall stress level.
But I have to day, as a fan, I enjoy watching the Orioles win 2-1. It's just good baseball.

Right now the team is 9th in runs scored per game, and 7th in OPS. So, a tic below average so far. The ERA is 4th in the league (6th for the starters, 3rd for the bullpen). I do not think our pitchers will stay that highly ranked, but hopefully the offense can move up 2-3 rungs. The good news is, we're allowing fewer runs than we score most days, when we need runs late, we're getting them some of the time, and the bullpen has been good when it has had leads to protect (9 saves, 3 blown saves, two of which came during games we eventually won). We are undefeated (7-0) in games we led after 7 innings, and an impressive 4-5 in games we trailed after 7 innings (0-2 in games where we were tied after 7, both against the Yankees).

This is an offense that should run on 6 main cylinders: Reimold, Markakis, Jones, Wieters, Hardy, and Reynolds. Currently we are opperating on two, Jones and Wieters. It will be ineteresting if we get all 6 going at once.

I think Davis is going to be a bit better than people are giving him credit for by the end of this year as well. It helps having good hitters behind you and in front of you for protection. I think Davis will do a solid job of protecting Wieters if he stays directly behind him, or if Reynolds bat ever does come around, in behind him.
I think the offense could end up surprising a few people once some of our prime players find their swings.
Also, Andino has been pretty darn good the last couple months of last season and the first month of this season. Don't count him out as not being able to make an impact.

If the pitching stays this good, we'll win the World Series.

Davis will be a better hitter when is more selective and stops swinging at bad pitches. He's been doing that of a late. Like someone else said, Davis's best AB tonight was when he drew a walk. Sandwiching him in front or behind good hitters is not going to make him a better hitter. It just doesn't work that way.
