Tough series loss, but I'm pleased with how they competed all series long. Game #5 will probably haunt me until the end of time, but that's hockey. It'll be interesting to see how the roster shapes up going into next season. If it were you, would you bring Green back?

Green - yes. Wideman and Semin - no.

If he had been tangled up and it just came up and caught someone I'd say fine, it happens, but he never even had his stick on the ice, he came straight from the wing to set a pick on the C (a designed play in hockey), ready to check someone (hence the stick being up), and whether he lost his balance, or didn't expect the guy to be there, it was a STUPID play at that point in the game, and an unwritten rule in hockey that you do NOT take a penalty at the end of a game with the goalie pulled.
OK-I agree that it was a stupid play and you do not take a penalty at the end of a game with the goalie pulled. It is a bit much to say that Ward intentionally took the penalty. There is no way that he took the penalty intentionally-which is what you said in your earlier post.

I don't think he set out to smack someone in the face, but skating around with your stick up like that is going to draw a cross check or high stick 90% of the time. That's why I said intentionally because he skated into people with his stick up. That's like junior rule no. 3 that you don't do. Just really dumb right from the beginning and he wasn't thinking.

I take it harder because I was against the ward signing from the beginning because of the $$ amount. For it to be him was just beyond irritating.

    No more Caps Hockey, ugh.

When the Rags scored first on Saturday night I said to my friend that the game could be over as the way the Caps record had gone as far as scoring first or not, unfortunately that was the result. Got to tip your had to NY as they have a good team and Lundquist came up huge in game 7.

Game 3 and 5 will haunt me until October, but to oust the #2 seed, and take the #1 seed to 7 games with a 22 year old rookie matching the league MVP goalie save for save, it was a good run.

They have a couple tweaks to make and could me a much better team next year. I've got a wish list going already.

I wasn't able to watch game 5 at all so that's the only reason that's keeping that game from driving me crazy, but I agree they had a good run. It's a shame they couldn't pull it out b/c New Jersey is certainly beatable as well so the path to the Cup finals was certainly there for the taking. Although the way the Kings are playing right now I'm not sure if we could beat them.

I guess the biggest question is will Hunter be back?

Saw on twitter that Hunter went to McPhee's office this morning and told McPhee that he will not be returning next season.

I can't believe no one is mentioning that power play the caps had in the 3rd period. It had to be the worst power play in the history of hockey. Not even close.

They essentially gave up a shorthanded goal, almost scored on their own goal, and couldn't even get the puck in the rangers zone. What the hell was that?
