Terry Francona says it wasnt beer and chicken that got him fired. It was the Orioles.

It is embarrassing that we spend that much time talking about that one single game. We finished in last place and had a horrible team last year. Sure that game was fun and it may have turned the page on our culture of losing but we are still a bad club. It just makes us look bad when we keep talking about it. Move on.

If that is the case, then I think we haven't talked about it enough! If it alone changed the culture and is responsible for us getting off to a hot start and will allow us to continue that, then I say we should talk about it every hour on the hour.

Seriously, though, I get what you are trying to say. We should actl like we've been there before, but the problem is, we haven't been there for a LONG time. It was a big deal for us because we haven't played in a meaningful game on the last day of the season in a long time (even if the meaning was all for the other team). I have no problem talking about it a lot because it was one of few bright spots for this team in a while and I much prefer to pay attention to that than the garbage we've seen since 1997.

I don't know what is really so embarrassing? It's not like fixating on one good moment is the reason other fans notice we are bad. I'm pretty sure the entirety of baseball and it's fans has been aware of our futility and irrelevence for a long time.

I don't think people are fixated on the last game of 2011, so much as the last month of 2011. We were scheduled to play numerous games against good teams -- Red Sox, Rays, and Angels -- fighting for a playoff spot, and everybody assumed we'd lay down like dogs. The Boston media was particularly dismissive (I'm looking at you Bob Ryan) and was already planning their playoff coverage. But not only didn't we lay down for our betters we actually kicked their asses up and down the block and sent most of them home packing, and some of them into retirement. That's worth celebrating.

It meant a ton to me because I despise Red Sox fans in our park, as I'm sure the O's players do.

Thing is it wasn't fans talking about the game in this case...it was Francona.

It wasn't one game... It was several (5-6 wins) in that last month that played a major role in the history of the sport. I've not heard one single person act as if the last game was the equivalent of a WS win... No one is ignorant to the fact that the O's were finishing under .500. It was, however, nice to send the red sox packing... If you don't derive joy from that then you need to go hang out at the yard when the invasion occurs.

I loved game 162. I loved Sept. 2011. But if we can play like that from 4/30 - 5/15, I'll be much more impressed with the team.

Fortunately the Redsox were eliminated the last day of the 2011 season!
Unfortunately we were eliminated on the first day of the 2011 season. And 2010,2009, etc.

    Lets go O's!!! 2012

It's not just Oriole fans that still talk about that game. That was one of the most exciting games in the history of the sport and fans from all over the nation still refer to it and remember it vividly. You need to get over yourself.

Get over myself? Come on I think that is a little out of line. I am as laid back as they come and you don't even know me. I am not sure how that is really called for...

I simply stated it was one game and we should move on. Did I say it wasn't an enjoyable game or an important game? No. I simply said we talk a lot about one game and it really isn't very classy when we had one of the worst records in all of MLB last year.

A lot of people do this on here I have noticed:

You didn't just simply say that. You said it was embarrassing to keep celebrating it, We are still a bad team and fan's look bad to keep talking about it. Those are provocative words. Don't act surprised if people are riled by them.
