Overall Football Traits
Production 2 "2008: Started career at Auburn where he contributed as a reserve. 2009: Transferred to SCSU (11/0) -- 29 2010: (12/12) -- 46-7-1 2011: (11/11) -- 66-2-2 "
Height-Weight-Speed 2 Possesses prototypical measurables for the position along with excellent top-end speed. Has smaller hands (8 3/8) and average arm length (31 1/2').
Durability 1 Appeared and started in 23 consecutive games during his final two seasons at SCSU and has not suffered any injuries that we are currently aware of.
Intangibles 3 Accountable and handles his responsibilities. Leads by example.

Safety Specific Traits
Instincts/Recognition 3 Overall instincts and diagnostic skills are adequate. Shows good awareness for targets coming in and out of his zone when he's aligned in the underneath short robber position. Still developing in terms of route recognition and anticipation skills. Shows good discipline and does a nice job of holding his water against play-action or misdirection. Displays above-average diagnostic skills in the run game and fills downhill quickly.
Cover Skills 3 Above-average athleticism and movement skills. Displays some tightness when he has to quickly flip hips or make a sudden 180 degree turn. Displays an adequate closing burst to make up ground once he's pointed in the right direction. At his best when with the ball in front of him breaking forward. Will have no problems holding up as a half defender and although he lacks elite range can handle middle of the field responsibilities. Will have restrictions if asked to match up in man coverage with quicker slot WRs at the next level.
Ball Skills 3 Although he has smaller hands he is natural catching the ball. Secures most interceptions he can get his hands on. Lacks elite playmaking instincts at this point. Can clean up angles to the point.
Run Support 2 Aggressive and physical in this area. Effective when aligned near the box. Does a nice job of shocking and shedding blockers and can work through traffic. Generally takes sound angles in pursuit. Displays adequate body control and does a nice job of tackling with leverage and wrapping up upon contact. Flashes ability to deliver a heavy hit when able to line up ball carriers.

Well this is another need as we need some saftey depth after losing Zib & Nak.
Looks like a good pick ... But is he better than higher ranked safeties M Martin, A Allen, G Iloka, & B Hardin???Last edited by JohnnyK27; 04-28-2012 at 01:46 PM.

Per Dean Pees
Def. Coordinator Dean Pees on drafting safety Christian Thompson: "I wanted to hug Ozzie. That was a great pick.”
