How concerned are you about our WR corps?
Anquan Boldin is another year older and right now is a bigger version of Derrick Mason. Torrey Smith is a home run hitter, but is still developing. Tandon Doss could be a solid possession receiver, much like Boldin. I don't see much of a future for LaQuan Williams. Tommy Streeter is definitely a project, but has unlimited potential.
So what do you think? Are you concerned? Do we sign a guy off the street? Do we wait to see who's cut, come June? I'm not real confident with this group right now, and I hope Ozzie has something up his sleeve. Any names out there that might be available? I've heard the Texans are shopping Jacoby Jones. Maybe, Andre Caldwell as a FA? Gosh, I hope Ozzie has something in the works.

That WR core seemed to work out alright for them since they got to the AFC Champ game. Everyone got better or stayed the same. I know Lee Evans is gone but that isn't much. I'd imagine they would bring in another solid possession receiver. Maybe a Greg Camarillo or dare I say Mark Clayton? Maybe even throw Braylon Edwards a 1 year deal if he is healthy.

Caldwell signed with Denver. Checking the Free Agent list, there is nothing out there. Camarillo(Cam was his coach in Miami), Clayton, and Patrick Crayton is it. After that, nothin'. Camarillo would be a nice pick up. His familiarity with Cam may draw him here. I guess we may see some maneuvering by Ozzie once he gets Joe and hopefully, Rice signed.

We just have no cap room to play with right now. Oz needs to get Joe done at least and then see where we stand. Unfortunately, whoever we may add, I don't think it will be an impact player considering the space we will be working with, the current roster, and who is/will be available. I wouldn't be surprised if you see a core comprised of the guys we have now (including Streeter and/or an UDFA that we've signed).
Like an earlier poster said, we did pretty well with this core last year. Evans was hurt most of the year and pretty ineffective for the rest of it. It is ashame because I think a healthy version of him is exactly what we need/needed to take our offense to the next level. Too late now. We used two TE sets so often last year that there wasn't many balls to go around to a 3rd WR. However, that may be a result of simply not having a great 3rd WR we can throw in there.

Don't forget, Pitta and Dickson are part of that corp. We don't need three great receivers.

Definitely. Like I said above, we use 2 TE sets so often that the 3rd WR isn't getting many touches most likely no matter what. However, if we had a capable 3rd WR that might change. It is hard to exactly tell in some regards as it could be a "chicken or the egg" type of question. Evans was hurt for too long to know what the offense would have been like if we had a healthy, legit receiver as a 3rd wr.
My biggest thing is that I think we need one other receiver that can truly stretch the field. Someone that DBs are actually scared might run by them. Torrey gives us one guy like that but I think we need someone else that can do that as well. Evans was supposed to be that guy but injuries derailed that hope. Doss and Williams, even if they perform well, aren't that type of receiver. Perhaps Streeter or Thompson can give us that even though they are very raw. I'm excited to see.

I'm not concerned with our recievers at all, we will still get atleast another year or two of good play out of Boldin. Then you have all the young guys Torrey, Doss, LaQuan who are getting the first full offseason of their careers and are only going to get better. Torrey has potential through the roof as we all know and Tandon can become a good possession reciever. We also might have got a major steal in the 6th round in Tommy Streeter who is blazing fast and goes 6-5' 220, Cam and DeCosta were shocked and thrilled to get him where they did. We can also throw David Reed in there to who is probly going into a make or break year for him.

This is the key. The Ravens only drafting a raw, upside guy in the 6th round signifies 2 things to me.
1. They like Doss and Williams.
2. They are planning on using the two TEs sets as one of their formations, especially when passing. We have to remember that both Dickson and Pitta are generally receiving TE's.

But do we have "one"? I'm not saying we have to have one or any, for that matter. I'm just concerned, that's all. If Boldin or Smith go down for any extended length of time, we are in trouble. I hope Joe's deal get's done, so we can sign a Camarillo or someone that is cut from another team. I really think we need another proven vet. We have Boldin and Smith, but Doss, Reed, and Streeter are still unproven. I get the point about using Dickson and Pitta, but we need another WR to stretch the field to make them more effective. If nothing else, Lee Evans was that, and teams respected his ability when he was on the field, even though his production was terrible. I don't know. I just want to see this offense evolve. Will getting a retread off the street do it? Probably not. Be we need somebody with a solid track record for this year and hopefully get a big name next year.

FWIW, Jabar Gaffney was released by the Redskins. Could be a decent option.
