Is it me or do Oriole coembacks seem to include some miscue from the other team?

The dropped fly ball in Chicago opened up the gates for the extra inning win over
the White Sox. On Saturday night it is an overthrown ball by the catcher, along with
the misplayed ball in centerfield. Today its two balls thrown away in the ninth.
Of course, not all of the rallies begin this way, but it often seems like some flukey
thing happens to open the door. The Orioles take advantage of that opportunity and
for that they must get credit, but it often seems like the door must be opened for
them.In the past, it was the Orioles that opened the door for the opposition. Lets
hope the trend continues this way.
I think everyone in the Orioles corner knows that the next 10 days will tell us alot
more about the quality of this years team. But so far, this team looks much much
    better than a year ago.

Roy, doesn't it also seem like the O's PUT themselves in the position of needing to come back through miscues? It may be that we've gotten some retribution lately but gracious, compared to what we've given away it doesn't seem that we've been unduly fortunate.

Yes, the next 15 games will tell us a lot. Are the Yankees still our daddy? I like Hammel, Matusz and Arrieta up here. I just hope Buck doesn't sprinkle the lineup with Chavez and Johnson and sit Reimold or Davis.

Usually if we're involved in a game where the losing team entered the ninth up 2-0, we've lost those for the last several years. This season we seem to be fighting our way back, whether it's because of miscues or not. It's something to be positive about.

Most comebacks include a miscue from the other team.

Isn't that a fact. I find it hard to believe that after all the games the O's have blown with poor fielding, base running, and many other moronic plays, that when they win a few that way it's looked down upon.

At least we're capitalizing on others mistakes.

As LJ said, most comebacks are the result of a miscue. Whether it be an error by the opposing team or a hanging slider that gets hammered for a HR. I'm pleased we are taking advantage of these situations, as we normally would not.

Exactly. Just to echo what you and LJ said. Remember those Yankee comebacks against us this year? Oriole miscues, right? That's usually the way it works.

I always fond of the saying "You make your own breaks"...looks like the o's are doing just that. Some solid play, and maybe just a little baseball karma in our favor because of it.

We do seem to be getting a lot of lucky breaks, but we're making our fair share of mistakes that teams arent punishing us for. in the past, it was the other way around. i think this is just what winning feels like

Roy ... what I really like is the stuff that has happened to the Orioles for many years is now turning a bit in their favor. When a team gives us extra outs the teams is finding a way to make them pay.

Our pitching has been so bad over the last five or six years that we were never close enough to take advantage of other teams miscues. Now the games are closer and we are able to make these teams pay.

I"m going to say it. Good teams take advantage of the extra outs that the opposition gives them. The Orioles are playing like a good team.

Roy, come on. The vast majority of comebacks are started with a miscue from the other team. What makes the difference is a team that takes those miscues and turns them into a comeback. Don't be such a downer! Let's enjoy this for awhile and see where it goes.

Yes, we've had some lucky breaks. BUT do you know how many lucky breaks we've handed out over the past few seasons? Heck, we gave the yanks some lucky breaks in games 2 and 3 of the first series this year.

The hardy play yesterday was a bad throw.... But it was off of a well hit ball behind second that forced a leaping throw across the body. And the jones nubber (following hardy) was a another tough play that required a perfect throw AND Jones hustled his rear to first (to force a quick hard throw) and then to second. Following that play MW absolutely scotched his double off the wall AND he also hustled and turned what easily could have been a long single into a double. Then the presence of David made the A's IW him... Probably based off of his hotness from the day before. And Betimit worked the count in his favor to get what he got....

Not to mention that the O's kept the A's within 2 runs over innings.

My analysis: the O's made the opportunities more so and capitalized on what was given to them. The A's unlocked the door... the O's kicked it down!!!

These are exactly the kind of games B-more needs to win.
