Barry Larkin has us at #2! Wow interesting.
Barry looking to make a reputation at ESPN! Objectively now, with the number of Mendoza-line BAs in the lineup and our defense I just can't agree, but....

You could also look at it from the point of view of, the O's are 14-8, tied for first place in the toughest division in baseball, while not clicking on all cylinders, and room for improvement. I don't think we're the 2nd best team in MLB either, but we should be ranked above Boston and NY right now. How ESPN can have us ranked below them is crazy, but even crazier that they have us ranked below the Blue Jays, who we are 5-1 against this year.

And what have we done so far against our top three opponents in the "toughest division of baseball?" Haven't earned it yet. Looking forward to the challenge though. (I think the NYDN rankings are the most accurate: above the RedSox and Yanks, but a more reasonable sixth over all.)

But honestly, I couldn't care less about rankings like these. The only power ranking that matters to me is the actual standings when 162 games have been played.
I'm glad someone finally pointed this out-- Power rankings, in all sports, have to be one of the silliest things I've seen, yet, somehow, fans eat them up and about every sports publication worth its salt better have its own! Well, I guess that will tell you something about your average sports fan...or your average sports journalist?
