This is what puts me on a ledge. Roch:
The Orioles are 5-17 against the Yankees since the start of the 2011 season and 10-30 since the start of 2010. They're 6-22 at the "current" Yankee Stadium.

At some point Buck needs to swap the lineup around. I think that Hardy and Markakis are going to turn it up, but until they do you can't have two players hitting at the mendoza line hitting 2nd and 3rd for your team.

Get back to me if the Yankees sweep this series. Last night, they held the Yankees to two runs on a homerun, and denied them other scoring chances. On most nights this season, that is enough to win.
I don't think the O's are going to mentally write-off the next 14 games we have with them this year.

Agreed. As frustrating as it was, we just had some bad luck. We also swung at some bad pitches in important spots. It's a long season. If someone said before the season - would you take 14-9 even if it meant going 0-4 against the Yankees at this point? I would have said yes.
Also, they're final two in the bullpen are damn good. It's nice they can shorten the game to 7 innings. We have 14 more against them, let's start tonight.

Eh...I'll give you Cano. Rodriguez has been on a decline for some time now. I don't expect him finish with an OPS of .769, but honestly he may not end up much higher than that.
Jeter's not going to finish with an OPS over 1.000, either.
I think the Yankees are definitely the more talented team, but looking at both squads from top-to-bottom, I do feel like the O's have close that gap considerably. Just need to find a way to win some, now.

I wish I could have your sensible and positive attitude toward Yankee games. Problem for me is, my Orioles fan status was truly cemented during the playoff series when Jeffrey Maier stole that fly ball out of Tony Tarasco's glove. And when that horrible umpire, Garcia, ran up and fervently waved the ball "out of the park" - as if he was trying to WILL it to be true - I know all was lost. If you don't remember this, just take a look:

Since then, that same hang-dog face, Jeter, has been dashing merrily around the basepaths and making so-so defensive plays that people interpret as pure genius. I think Jeter is an amazing player, but I just cannot stand him.
Regardless, the maddening thing about these series is this: Yes, we just hit a "ton of balls right at people" etc. That's precisely why it's so friggin' maddening! If we were just going up and striking out with no chance - and I could turn the game off in the fifth inning without checking back - then it wouldn't be so painful.
At some point they're going to have to talk openly about their mental problem versus the Yankees. Turn some sunlight on this festering disease and burn it out of their souls for good. It was getting ridiculous 10 years ago - now it's just beyond comprehension.
