    Im on the ledge

I am afraid that the Orioles are going to feel like they just can't beat the Yanks, and just get back to their old losing ways. Please, someone talk me down

So am I, man. The O's need to get a win against these guys - they've been really close 3 times so far. It's a shame JJ and Reynolds aren't hitting right now.

    Hate the Yankees.

Felt like the '69 WS. No matter how hard or long we hit the ball, someone caught it.

Well that was a kick in the balls, but still just one game.

I wasn't particularly optimistic after the 7th when we had Markakis and Wieters in scoring position and couldn't get even one of them in.

It sucks because we had a number of super close plays (almost a HR, almost a wild pitch that would have scored Nick) I agree but it was good to see another real solid pitching performance overall.

Every team loses games eventually. Sucks it had to be against the Yankees, but the pitching was phenomenal again and that really all that I can ask for. Consistent pitching.

Sadly, we only went 0-1 in that situation. Would have liked to have given Betemit a shot at failing there.

I agree with you completely. This was really the only game in the series that the Orioles had a decent chance to win. In all likelihood, we will get swept by the Yankees and, more importantly, the great start to this season will be damaged by the fact that we simply cannot compete with New York on any level. The Yankees dominated this game in all the small, key ways that good teams win. The score might as well have been 8-1 instead of 2-1. You could see the Yankees playing on a different level than the O's. I think we need to wake up to reality and forget about playoffs or being a .500 team because it's another lost season until we can start competing with New York and Boston. The pressure is really going to build tomorrow and Wednesday night and with Matusz and Arrieta pitching, this is going to get ugly. I feel bad for the team since they really have played hard and won some important games, and now they will head into Boston with a serious wake-up call. In the long run, I think this game was necessary to snap us out of this false hope that "this might be the year we make a turnaround."

It is so frustrating that this team can't take it to the next level. I don't know why but this loss really feels bad. I thought get this road trip started right but my hope and my faith in this team was out of whack. The hope is always there but the faith has not been...all the sudden I had some faith and I feel like it was a sick joke. I'm not feeling very optimistic anymore and all it took was a 2-1 loss tonight. Its a slippery slope...

This. And I realize JJ did get a hit in the 9th tonight, but why is he still in the 2 hole? I don't want someone who is batting ~.180 to get the extra plate appearance over the 9 hitter batting who's batting ~.320

Yeah, it was so much easier to take these losses when the pitching sucked and we got blown out.

O's hit the ball hard a bunch of times tonight. I just look at tonight as a well pitched game where the O's didn't get any breaks.

    Go get them tomorrow Birds.
