    48 years ago today

On May 2, 1964 forty-six children were injured and one died in the Memorial Stadium Escalator Accident. My sister, myself and four classmates were among the 46 injuried on this Saftey Patrol Day.
If I knew how, I would post an AP Photo that I recently surprisingly saw on Ebay. It clearly shows my sister and the mood of this horrific day.

For some reason, this part of the forums won't let me post pictures?

Wow they funneled them into a traffic block and the machine was overwhelmed and broke? Or was she smothered like at a rock concert stampede?

Very sad moment. I remember hearing about it when I was a kid in the 70's. It was whispered lore but I never really knew what happened.

Yeah, it was pretty bad... there were 3 and 4 of us kids on a step going up and on the top they had a turnsile letting the kids out one at a time. Eventually, we all fell backwards. Those on the bottom were cut by the moving metal steps. It took a while for someone to find the stop button. A sad day indeed.
