I was wondering if he has been playing hurt since he was in a funk of late. It seems to be a lingering issue that bites him hard every now and then.

Sorry to say, this problem is going to preclude him from having any real shot at a significant major league career. This isn't going to be less of a problem as he ages.

Tyler has been plagued with hamstring issues. That doesn't meant that he hasn't been working all off season to get better. He has... It was reported that he felt a "pull" and was taken out of the lineup for precautionary reasons. Yes, it may be a shock, but some still support him 100% unlike others, who continue to bash him (I'm not saying that you did, atlhough others have) and bring up the hamstring issues. It seems like that's all he is in the news for so to speak is for hamstring injuries. It's enough, talk about his hitting, or how well he is doing in Bowie. Something other than about his injuries, I understand that it's "news" but talk about something else, other than that. Give Tyler credit, that he is a player who had tried to get better and make that muscle stronger in the off season and most of all SUPPORT him, he needs SUOPPORTERS....

I'm about as bullish on Townsend as everyone, but his injuries remain an enormous (and frustrating) obstacle to his development and progression. If people are frustrated at this point, it's perfectly fair. Heck, I am. I think he has talent, but he spends far too much time off-the-field. This really isn't debatable.
Again, big TT supporter here, but the following is important: this isn't a fan club. Folks here take the O's, O's prospects, and the analysis thereof seriously. We don't really need to be told how to post.

You are probably a relative or friend of Townsend's, so please don't take these comments personally. I have been happy with his hitting, but it is impossible to overlook that he has been very injury prone and has a recurring hamstring problem. When a team is trying to make plans about its future, it is very difficult to plan on counting on a player who hasn't been able to stay on the field for any length of time, no matter how well he hits when he is healthy. It's not like anyone is saying Townsend isn't working hard, or isn't trying to avoid injury, or has some character flaw, but injury proneness has to be a factor when evaluating a player. Sorry, but that is the way it is. And I don't think comments on a message board are likely to help or hurt Townsend in his quest to overcome this issue and become a major league player. We are all rooting for him but his injury issues are an obstacle for him, to be sure.
