Right now we need to all pray that it is only a partial tear so that it is closer to a 6 month than 1 year timeline.

Folks, this isn't the end of the world. I'm not trying to minimize this injury but it's a lot easier to replace a top tier pass rusher than it is to replace a quarterback or something. Suggs is one starter out of 11 on defense. He will be missed, but this isn't a DEATH BLOW.

Suggs is the reigning Defensive Player of the Year. He's more than just "one guy out of 11."
That said, this may be the golden opportunity for Flacco and the offense. If the defense isn't as good as we've always been, maybe that will open up the playbook and let our offense take games into their hands for once????

I'm not sure if Andre Carter is your guy. NE played a lot of 4-3 and that's where he excels. He has really good in Was when they played 4-3, not very useful in a 4-3. Same in SF. Maybe you guys play more 4-3 than I thought (?), but if it's predominately a 3-4, I don't think he's the right fit. Good locker room guy though.

Suggs insists it's only partially torn, and he'll be back.
Baltimore Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs will have surgery for a partially torn Achilles tendon, an injury he insists will not keep him sidelined for the entire 2012 season.
The injury occurred in Arizona while Suggs was practicing for an upcoming conditioning test, he said Thursday in a text message.
Suggs initially thought it was a sprain but a doctor determined that it was a partial tear, he said.
The Ravens issued a statement Thursday saying: ''We are in contact with Terrell. He will see a specialist early next week, and we'll know more at that time.''

I keep seeing reports that it takes 11 months to return from a torn achilles(I know Suggs said its partially torn) but those studies come from 2006 Medical Journals. I would think technology has improved enough to make a quicker return for torn achilles and those journals are a bit outdated.

What a shame this is losing Suggs for probly the whole year, next man up even tho it is impossible to replace Terrell. A combo at DE/OLB of Kruger,Upshaw,Kindle and McPhee I have faith in and should give us enough pass rushing but none of it is really proven. My Bro tore his Achilles playing Soccer and missed his whole Junior year ,and he rushed it more than he should have and ended up missing the first quarter of his Senior year. Achilles injuries are nothing to play with , worst thing to do is rush them. I would rather have 100% T Suggs in 13' than him possibly ruin his career at age 30 trying to rush it in 12'.

He was working out at his old high school in Chandler, Ariz. He said he started and stopped and felt something turn, so he called his trainer to get an exam.source - ESPNIn the earlier texts to ESPN, Suggs denied that the injury happened playing basketball, as some sources had told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. Other sources had told Schefter that the injury happened during the conditioning test, as Suggs maintains.

However, the tendon does take time to heal, usually about six to eight weeks. More time will be needed after this to allow the muscles to regain their normal strength after being in a plaster or brace. Depending on the type of work, some people need several weeks off work after an Achilles tendon rupture, and the time taken to return to sport is between 4 and 12 months.
