Pineiro starts for the Tides tonight
Joel is a guy that probably wants to get back to the majors and I have to think he knows what he has to do to get there. As recently has 2010 he was 10-7 with a 3.84 ERA with the Angels. He is only 33 and has had a 12 year major league career with a 104-93 record and a 4.41 career ERA.
I am anxious to follow his progress.Last edited by wildcard; 05-03-2012 at 07:35 PM.

I hope we never have a need for him this year in Baltimore. If we do it will mean that most of our current rotation has gone down. Because I figure that Berken, Dana Eveland, and perhaps Steve Johnson are ahead of him.

Nothing wrong with a little depth. At some point, someone is going to go on the DL...Pineiro would be fine in a spot starter/long relief type role.

Through four innings he has given up two hits and a run. Walked no one. Struck out five. A good diving pitch of some type that Exposito handles well in the dirt. Bill Hall did a Brooks Robinson impression from foul territory. He also homered.

Wow...nice first game. I wonder if they would consider bringing him up (eventually) for the rotation, cut Gregg, and move Hunter to the long man role?

I never thought I'd be somewhat excited for A) Joel Pineiro and B) his AAA outing, but, well, I am.

Pineiro may be the guy that makes the O's make a move with Gregg. Pineiro may have in his contract that after some period on time the O's have to bring him up or he has the option to leave the O's organization. I don't know that is true but I think its possible. If Pineiro continues to pitch well the O's would not want to lose him.
