Horrific blow to the Yankees (Rivera out for year)
KANSAS CITY -- Yankees closer Mariano Rivera was carted off the field at Kauffman Stadium on Thursday after appearing to suffer a right knee injury shagging fly balls during batting practice.
The Yankees were hitting on the diamond just after 7 p.m. ET as Rivera received attention in the outfield, with manager Joe Girardi among those watching the all-time saves leader be propped onto the back of a flatbed truck and driven around the warning track.
Head athletic trainer Steve Donohue was riding with Rivera, who was gingerly helped into the clubhouse and did not appear able to put pressure on his injured leg.
No further information was immediately available about Rivera's injury. Rivera regularly shags fly balls in center field during batting practice and has spoken about hoping to play the position in a game before he retires.

Looks like my top fantasy holds guy just turned into a top fantasy closer! Seriously, Robertson is pretty sick and will fill in nicely if Rivera is indeed hurt.

Would they want Gregg?

As much as I dislike the Yankees, Mariano has been an absolute pleasure to watch all these years. It would truly be a shame to see it end like this. I wish him the best of luck.

I don't wish injury on anyone, but having Mo break down after a ridiculously long career, on the far side of antiquity already, is a pretty small blow (relative to our repeated disasters) in the cosmic-equity context.
That, and I, too, have David Robertson on my fantasy team.

I'm going to use an analogy from my past to describe how I initially felt as I was watching MLB Network when this happened. All through Elementary school, I would always go to bed and wish, "I hope the school has a fire tonight so I don't have to go in and I get some days off from school. I don't want anyone hurt, but it would be awesome to get some time off!" Well, while in HS, my old Elementary school did burn down. (Sparks Elementary circa 1990's. Ring a bell to anyone) I was crushed.
Well, I'll admit that in the deep dark places of my soul, I wonder why the Yankees never get hit with horrible injuries (even though I'm sure they have, they have just always had better depth to back it up). As I watched Mo go down, I felt horrible. He is nothing but class. He has never ever showed anyone up. I would not wish this on him, nor anyone. This man, even though he is a Yankee, deserves a grand send-off. I wish this has a good outcome for him and his family...just not while pitching against the O's. In the end, this is just a game.

Is my brain correct for concluding that any sentence combining the words "Gregg," "another," "team," and "want" is inherently sarcastic?
EDIT: I should add that "need" can't be processed at all.

I'd love to see the Yankees take Gregg and his contract off the Orioles hands. But we all know what will happen.......right?
He will magically be transformed into the second coming of Goose Gossage.
