He has also been brilliant in the field lately. This from a guy who is nearing his 38th

    I hate him.

He plays the game the way it should be played. I admire him greatly. It isn't his fault that his organization gets to play on an unlevel playing field year after year. Having said that, it's obvious that he has benefited from great talent around him and also from getting a lot of close calls on the corners.

I think most people that post here respect the player that Jeter is. I'll just say this, he won't get any love from me.

So when the trainer came out when he was faking getting hit by a pitch that is the way the game should be played?

A great player, period. However, from someone who thought he was good fielder in his prime (the stats say otherwise) he clearly has lost a full step in the field. Thankfully, the Yanks can't move him from SS because of who he is, but he's got no range now.

I agree with other posters: he makes routine plays look like Russian ballet. I've never seen a guy make a simple line-drive stab, clear the ball and look around like, "Wow, did you guys see that? I just amazed me again."

That said, Jeter is a superb, superb all-around baseball player. His intangibles, his consistency, and his production over the course of a long career... all in the pressure cooker of New York.

I love to hate Jeter. I really just puke when I see him. But I doff my cap to him. He's a legend, and deserves to be a first-ballot HOF'er. He's good for baseball. But I still love to hate the guy. Just terrible.

No, that was bush league. Going 0-for-4 with 2 strikeouts against the Orioles like he did on Thursday night against Arrieta ... THAT'S the way the game should be played.

    .
Jeter did say that he thought that the Orioles could be the next Tampa Bay Rays of the A.L. East a couple of years ago.

Maybe he was right about that.
