This is some kind of bullpen..and its no fluke
Seven shutout innings? And they didnt even need O'day? This is the HUGE difference
for this years team. Their starters keep this team in most every game. The relievers
are lights out so far and they give the hitters a chance to come back. The Orioles
didnt have that last year. They havent had it in 15 years! As long as they keep
consistent, they will be competitve in every game. What a pen! And theyve still got
Berken and Steve Johnson and Bergesen and Britton on the horizon. Pitching,
Pitching, Pitching.
Big win tonight. Very!

by my potentially bad math, this brings the bullpen ERA down to 1.55

I had a good feeling we would win once i saw aceves exit the game.. Valentine brought him in too early, Buck saved our closer for a closer situation(great coaching)

I understand how Roy thought Chen went at least six. They all had Crisco-hands early on.

I can't remember the last time I felt so confident in the pen.

As Ayala was pitching, I was thinking about who was up in the top half and the matchups, not about how worried I was that he was going to blow it. It was a very nice feeling.

What's most impressive to me is that there's still guys with 0.00 ERA who pitched tonight and I thought, man, they have to give up a run at some point. It'd be hard to blame them if it was this game. But they just didn't. Crazy.

Once they tied it up in the 7th, even though they missed a fantastic opportunity to take the lead, I knew the game was in the bag, and I just hoped they'd be quick enough to save some arms for tomorrow. That's how much faith I have in the bullpen now. Got a little shaky when Patton came in, but when he started throwing strikes the confidence came back. This is an impressive unit.

Yeah Patton worried me as well coming into a tie game, but he got it done. He looked really good. His change up was on point tonight.

Strop wasn't his best tonight. Hardy made the great play to save him in the 9th and he made some bad pitches (Middlebrooks almost took him deep). His offspeed stuff was poor tonight. Lindstrom and Johnson can both go again tomorrow as well as O'Day. We just need Hammel to go 6 or 7 and also avoid another extra inning game. Of course, Kevin Gregg is well rested as well. I have to think this guy http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats...pbp&pid=456421 will be up within the next couple of weeks. He's been lights out and he can go 3 innings.

Stuart Pomeranz. Does anyone know anything about this guy? I saw his stats a few days ago and was impressed with what he has done this season. His K rate is fantastic. I noticed he is tall at 6' 7" and did not pitch much last year. He also has a brother that is playing for the Rockies. Does anyone have a scouting report? He must have some good stuff to be getting all those Ks. Was he hurt last year?
