Luis Exposito Impressive Behind the Plate

I have never seen Exposito play before tonight and I was impressed with his defense behind the plate and the way he set up for the pitchers. He looked very good to me and I would keep him on the roster. He lined out to right in his only at bat and hit the ball hard.

He only caught in the 13th right? Or was he out there in the 12th? I didn't pay enough attention in the 12th.

He caught the last 2 innings. Seemed fine back there, but I don't know that he was anything extraordinary. I'd be fine sending him back down when Reimold returns (or earlier, if the O's need to make another roster move).

He's a real nice young piece of catching depth, I'll say that. Glad DD was savvy enough to scoop him up.

He snapped a nice throw to first base on the third strike, passed ball. His arm looked strong.

That it did, but I was thinking that Wieters would have never let that ball pass.

Yea, that ball gets by Wieters very infrequently.

He looked good make no mistake about it, but lol sample size. Send him back down and keep making the moves we need until Reimold comes back. Maybe we'll see him in Paulinos place next year.

First of all, he didn't hit the ball hard to RF. It was pretty ordinary. Carrying 3 catchers is a luxury this team can't afford. His insurance in case Paulino or Wieters get hurt. He might even be a replacement for Paulino if Buck decides he wants defense over offense. BUT in no way should the O's carry 3 catchers for any length of time.

Yeah, he'll last until Reimold is back at the very most, I think. It's more likely we'll need a reliever before then, but we'll see. I could definitely live with him being the back up catcher next year or something just based on his pedigree and his decent minor league numbers.

Especially with Kevin Gregg just taking up the roster space.

They like Paulino versus lefties. That is why Exposito is up. They knew they had Lester and some Texas lefties coming up.

    The O's essentially have a 23-man roster.

It matches their 39 man roster.
