Ravens re-sign SS Bernard Pollard to 3 year extension

A really good move to lock up Bernard for a few more years , the guy was a difference maker last year. Where is all this money coming from??? we just signed Jacoby for 7 mil and now this extension. I thought we were only 2 mill under the cap with picks still be signed.

Well a Pollard extension will certainly create cap space in addition to additional years.\

Also Jacoby's deal might pay him $7 Million bit its spread over the deal.Its not counting that this season.

Did the NFL put something out as to what the salary cap was going to be for this season? IIRC, it was supposed to be close to what it was last year, then take a nice jump next year.

Perhaps the Pollard and Jones deal were done with the anticipation that we would end up under the cap by the specified date, as a result of the Flacco and Rice extensions?

Not sure of course because I don't know the exact date for when teams need to be in cap compliance for the 2012-2013 season.

Something else that could create some cap space....we could have some cuts pending. These deals may have occurred in anticipation of some current players being removed from the 53.
