The O's Have Five All Stars

Now I know I probably catch a lot of flack for this, but here goes. Jim Johnson, Adam Jones, Matt Wieters, Jason Hammel, and Wei-Yin Chen. And that doesn't even count Andino who I personally love, but has Cano in front of him.

It's probably easier for the pitchers to be picked at this point because the fans forget about us as long as they don't regress to the point of being abysmal.

I won't count on it, but it sure would be a nice change.

I'll have trouble believing they get 5 in. But 3 for sure and maybe one of the two starters mentioned. Just slightly better than having Wigginton be the representative .

I won't even think about all-stars for another 5 weeks. But yes, all five players you mentioned have done very well to this point.

We got a ways to go to see if Hammel or Chen belong there yet.

I don't think you are giving Andino enough credit, he has tremendous respect around the league.

...and I left out Hardy who no matter what he does has virtually no shot of being voted in with Jeter around.

I'm sure he's respected, but he'd have an uphill climb to get in ahead of Cano, Kinsler, and Pedroia.

Meanwhile Hardy is on pace for 30+ and stellar D again... pretty damn close to AS caliber there.

As I said, as long as their regression isn't off the charts. And I give Dino plenty of credit. I hope you are right about the rest of the league.

Unfortunately for JJ, like in Andino's case with the three he has to climb over, he has to climb over a potential HOF candidate also off to a pretty impressive start in Jeter. The name recognition alone is almost insurmountable.

Maybe a bench spot for J.J.?

JJ deserved it last year but this year Jeter actually deserves it for his play thus far. He's about to get colder than Garrett Atkins circa 2010 but its too late. Mediocrity guarantees Jeter a spot at this point.

Jones, Wieters and J Johnson are indisputable at this point, and Hammel, Chen and Strop could make good cases based on continued dominance.

Andino's still my personal all-star but that doesn't really mean anything.

Jones for sure, Wieters for sure, Johnson for sure, Chen for sure, Hammel for sure. Yep, I agree. I think Jones starts in RF, Hamilton in LF, and Granderson in CF in this year's AS outfield.

I think Jones, Wieters and Jim Johnson all have a great chance. I think Wieters has a shot at getting voted in, maybe Jones too but I haven't seen any early voting returns yet.

Three allstars may be pushing it but Hardy could be worthy of a bench spot. I doubt anyone from our rotation makes it, but Chen and Hammel, if he can bounce back from his last poor outing, are making a strong case.

Well...those 5 definitely deserve it based on what they've done so far this year, but it's hard to get 5 players on the team without at least 1 or 2 getting voted in by the fans.
