    Gausman more developed than Bundy?

Gausman threw a bullpen at the Trop today with Adair and Showalter. Britt dropped this nugget at the end of her article about it:

Gausman...is considered the Orioles most polished pitching prospect and there are some in the organization who think he is further ahead in his development than Dylan Bundy.

Obviously a player's floor is different from a player's ceiling, but if those people in the organization are right, then we could be in for a really good decade of baseball.

He's also a bit older, which would contribute to his "development". Definitely good to hear.

I don't think its unreasonable to say an older player, with D1 college experience is more developed than a guy one year removed from HS.

Even when the high school pick is in the majors at 19 years old and considered by most the 1st or 2nd best prospect in baseball?

I would think he would be, as he has been pitching in college.

If the folks who like to trade away their grandmothers are to be trusted, then we should keep him right up until he reaches the most effective/successful part of his career, and trade him then. Because the grass is always greener on the other side.

But seriously, keep him as long as humanly possible if his ML career smacks of success. Let's just hope he doesn't turn out to be another Arrieta/Britton/Matusz.

Bundy's ranking is based on not only what he has done but his potential. Bundy has a higher ceiling.

Might be fun to see them both start out at Bowie next year. Add Mike Wright in the mix and it might be a formitable staff to start 2013 there. Encouraging words about Gausman though, the future is lookin brighter.

Yes, even when the HS pick is the first or second best prospect in baseball. You said it yourself in your first post, just because Gausman may be more developed, does not mean he has more potential, or a higher ceiling.

Perhaps that's because it's been a year since they've seen Bundy throw his cutter in a game. Take away donut boy's best pitch and we'll see how polished he looks.

Donut boy? Denver, is that you? Don't worry, this team can stand to have two great young pitching prospects.

Give them a little time. Think Tillman.

Gausman is going to be huge for the Orioles starting in late 2013, book it.

Makes for conversation but you'll have to wait until Bundy is Gausman's age then compare where he is to where Gausman was. Hopefully it'll be Bundy by a smidge.

So no one's gonna throw out the theory that Gausman was throwing for Buck and Adair so they could evaluate him for a potential playoff roster spot? Would that even be possible right now? Would JTrea have made this post if he were still around?
