Sporting News picks O's to beat Rangers

    Link

    -----------------------------------------------------------------

    PREDICTION

"This won't be a low-scoring game but if Saunders can keep it close, there is no reason Baltimore cannot continue to win the games like it has all season. If their offense is within striking distance when their bullpen gets going, the Orioles will win."

    -----------------------------------------------------------------

Another inmportant indorsement of sorts is Jim Bowden. He sees the Rangers in a rout. The closest thing to a certainty in baseball is that Bowden will get it wrong.

Jayson Stark just posted his post-season picks, and although he says the Giants and Tigers will play in the World Series, the truth in his heart of hearts, and all *we* really need to hear, is in the last sentence of his article:

"All I can tell you is: Sprint for Vegas as fast as you can -- and bet on the Orioles and Cardinals."

Let's do this boys! I'm too tired to think of the toolbags name, but the CBS commentator on the FAN said something to the effect that "some teams really aren't in the playoffs, 'cough' the Orioles". Let's prove the naysayers wrong!

I'm glad that Albert Pujols and the Angels didn't make it to the playoffs and the Cardinals made it to the playoffs without him. I think leaving the Cardinals was a bad career move for Albert Pujols. He would have been adored forever if he stayed with the Cardinals and I personally think it's pretty special when a player spends their entire career with one team.

The thing it all comes down to: Saunders vs. Darvish.

Who do you trust? IF Saunders can keep it close, we will win. I like our bullpen, and I think Buck will out manage Washington. But it will be all for naught if Darvish pitches like Shields.

We CAN'T be overly aggressive. Be patient.

Attempting to pick the winners of individual baseball games is akin to picking coin flips.

You think? I don't know. There is a reason only good pitchers win 20 games...

Oh? Pretty easy when it's the Red Sox vs. Yankees.

We've never seen Darvish. But then again he's never seen us. We have 20 + HR power through all 9 in the line up. As Shields could tell him it only takes one mistake Keep it close Joe.
    Defense:
    C Wieters>Soto, Napoli
    1B Sherrif>Mooreland, Napoli
    2B Kinsler>Flaherty
    SS Hardy=Andrus
    3B Machado>Young
    LF McLouth>Murphy
    CF Jones>Hamilton
    RF Davis=Cruz

There is no way that Beltre sits, injured or not.
