Please tell me orioles.coms listing of Chen as tomorrows starter is an error

Tomorrow is about as much of a must win as the WC game against the rangers. im sorry but there is no way i would put Chen out there against a homerun hitting team like the yankees. He gives up homeruns every single appearence, so unless our lineup unloads a ton of runs early, this wont be pretty

I think it is threads like these that earned you that red dot under your name, although I will refrain from adding to it.

No, I like it. Every game deserves its own "Reverse Jinx" thread from now on.

Chen will fall flat. Give up 8 runs in the first inning. Octogenarian Pettite will mow the O's lineup down. Of this, I am certain.

Oh I get it, it's one of those reverse jinx threads, kind of like "if Saunders starts the wildcard play-in, it'll be 23-0 before the 2nd!"

Well then. Great. Because otherwise I have no time for this.

Though the tone of the OP is a bit harsh, I think it's perfectly legitimate to question why Chen is starting tonight, given that Tillman if my math is correct should be rested enough to start and that Chen has struggled mightily lately. I'm going to trust Buck on this one but on paper it would seem that Tillman should be the best option this evening without a doubt. But maybe there's something intangible going on behind the scenes that we don't know about. And if it's about making Tillman the "long reliever" for the series, I'm still skeptical, cause wouldn't it be better to let him start and lessen your chance of needing a LR in the first place?

Regardless, I'm expecting Chen's leash to be even shorter than Saunders' was on Friday. Don't be surprised to see Chris in the BP as soon as a baserunner appears in the 1st inning.

He's pitched well enough to win in 3 of his last 4 starts. He does much better on extended rest, which he has now. And the Yanks are susceptible to LHP.

I think Chen is the right call here.

I don't think most of the rest of us do, either, but I suspect we're going to be subjected to quite a lot of it, in one form or another, until the season is over.

I'm very happy with Chen as the starter tonight, going on six days' rest. Obviously, if the game is close, he has to be watched very carefully after the 6th inning and yanked at the first sign of trouble. But I expect a strong outing from him.

I don't see Palmer. McNally, or Cuellar on the bench; so I am okay with it.

No Boddicker, Mussina, Flanagan, or McGregor either.

I haven't checked - what are Chen's home/away splits? Personally, I think this is a good call to have Chen go tonight and Tillman at some point in Yankee Stadium.

By the way, why do you care who is pitching for the Orioles in this game, anyway ???

You said that the season was over yesterday when we were about to lose Game One.
