MLB Trade Rumors estimated him getting 1 million this year. Any word on what they agreed on?

Reimold and the Orioles settled on a $1M one-year deal. He made $490,500 last year.

I like Reimold and think he'll contribute (finally) this year...but man, to double your salary after virtually the whole season....obviously I don't understand something about this arbitration process.

Per Fangraphs, Reimold was worth $2.5 M last year after playing in just 16 games. .313/.333/.627.

01-11-2013 08:45 PM #9That might be a good place to keep him healthy.Reimold will compete with Nate McLouth in spring training for the starting job in left field. He also could serve as a right-handed designated hitter.

The Orioles should not allow Nolan to play in the outfield this year. Nolan can flat out hit and the Orioles have to keep the guy healthy. Nolan could easily replace the production lost by Mark Reynolds.

This is not much of an issue imo. He's much better than the LHB option. It's not like Reimold's splits are significant or even that meaningful at this point. There is also typically been some pretty good LHSP's in the division (not on our team) and we've had RHB's underperform in the past (Wigginton, Mark Reynolds, Vladdy, Adam Jones off the top of my head). The first three having established track records against LHP's before underperforming in our division.

A reverse split is fine if it's of the .841 R/ .815 L variety of 2009. Nolan looked like he was heading for a more balanced year last year before the injury. If he's close to healthy, it's reasonable to hope he OPSs .800+ this year against lefties. I don't think you can say he's a liability against them based on 283 ABs (a little more than two season's worth for a regular) of .775 production.
