Brady Anderson Puts Pitchers Through Paces

I know this has mentioned before but I thought it noteworthy because of the Sun article.

    http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/o...,7337290.story

Not only does Britton sound very confident headed into ST, but I'm glad Tillman is working with him again as his velo seemed to decline near the end of the season and Gonzo and Chen both seemed to tire down the stretch.

"And now I have the confidence from working out with Brady, being stronger throwing bullpens and knowing my arm is in shape," Britton said.

They benefited from Buck moving them back in the rotation and Brady putting them through an off season regimen that rebuilds them as they go into ST should be extremely beneficial in the long run.

"We really focused on doing some upper body stuff. He?s big on handstands and pull-ups, things I normally don't do, things you think "Oh should I be doing that? He teaches you the proper technique and you see the benefit of what you're doing. It's great what he's doing."
Sounds good and sounds like the arm problems are behind him. If so, that makes sending Matusz to the pen and not signing Saunders an easier decision.

I think the pitchers who wanted to perform better, showed up.

Absolutely. Britton has always struck me as a competitor. He'll get after it this year. My buddy out here coached him before he moved to Texas and said he was that way as a kid. I'd slap the "b" label on him but last time I did that with Arrieta it didn't work out so well. I wish he was in the group.

He and Chris Tillman are the "everyday all day" guys. They are both there.

Not according to the article. Britton, Tillman, Gonzo and Chen.

I was more dismayed at the absence of Arrieta, though. At least Matusz had some success at the end of last year.

Excellent. I didn't see his name in the article except in a reference to last year so your post made me curious. Who is not attending?

I read somewhere that Brady was working with 10 total this offseason.

Leave it to the Sun to tell part of the story. Anyone have the complete list of players he's working with there?

Again, from a strengthening standpoint this may have been more important for Britton than anyone else. That shoulder was a question mark even though he had some good performances last year.

Well, that solves it. Hammel doesn't want to perform better next season.

I think someone rehabbing a knee can be excused. Plus I'll settle for just as good. You lost a tough one up in NE today.
