If Joe Saunders doesn't re sign with the Orioles...

...does that make it a necessity to get another starter? In other words, if we miss out on Joe, do we make a push for Porcello or Loshe as many national reporters have suggested?

I wouldn't. Unless I can get Porcello cheaper than either JJ. Lohse is a Boras client and he costs a pick, so I would stay away. I would look for Britton, Matusz, or Wada, to take the #5 slot.

How about Jurjens as the #5

He could be in the mix, but I think Buck would prefer 2 LHSP in the rotation, so I think Matusz, Britton, and Wada, have the edge. But who knows if Jurrjens can get back to what he was........

No. There's enough depth to get through half the season with internal options. If they're still in need of a 5th starter later in the year, then go out and get another Saunders.

I hold out hope that no one mentioned in this thread pitches for the Orioles this season.

If none of Britton, Matusz, Wada and Jurrjens pitch for the O's this year I will buy you a Coke.

Well that's pretty idiotic considering how much upside three of those four pitchers have. Sure, I don't want this team to be better either.

If the O's don't sign Saunders, I think Steve Johnson has to be included in the competition for the #5 starter.

Wow Murph ...what a risky proposition

I will buy him a case. I think it would take a pretty substantial trade for 2 of these pitchers not to start the year on the team.

If Brittion pitches well and is healthy I think he is the 5th from jump with Matusz the 2nd Lefty w/ Patton.

I think he could very well be in a tight one with Britton. One could argue Johnson based on results is the most deserving.

If they can stick Jurrjens in Norfolk to begin the season, I don't see why Saunders wouldn't be in play.

With Jurrjens we have plenty of depth if we don't sign Saunders.
