If the Orioles fail to make the playoffs in 2013, what will the primary culprit be?
Unfortunately, I do have an agenda with this poll. There's a general point that I'm trying to make, and I'm wondering if the majority of the OH agrees with me.
And talking about the Pythagorean record, 1 run games, or Toronto's trades doesn't do it for me. Within the team itself, what will be the culprit?Last edited by luismatos4prez; 01-26-2013 at 06:35 PM.

A time warp? Evil Red Sox fans going back in time and kidnapping Adam Jones?

Offense- improved(on paper at least).
Defense- improved(over OD/ first half 2012).
Bullpen- some slippage is to be expected, but probably nothing major.
Starting pitching- God only knows...
That's why I still want Saunders. It isn't completely out of the question that 3/5 of the current rotation could implode next year. No one has any track record whatsoever and while I expect good things from them, it still scares the crap out of me.

The defense should be "good enough" and it's nearly impossible for the the BP to "live up to last years results" (maybe the makes BP the obvious choice). The BP should be good. So the poll is basically between between SP and the offense runs scoring runs imo. I'll go with SP "not living up to last years results", though I actually think they will need to exceed last years results.

I voted for the "bullpen" option, but if the O's don't make the playoffs this year, there will be a lot of people saying Duquette should have done more to improve the team during the off-season...instead of just hoping that "going with what we got" because it "worked last year" would be enough to repeat the same success.

Where ever the injuries hit. That will be the problem area.
My guess is the offense. There is not nearly has much depth in the offense as there is in the pitching.

Not sure how they could go back in time and make themselves fail to make the playoffs in 2012.

Clearly I meant 2013. There is no option to edit the title of your poll.

I expect the SP to be better, the defense to be better, the bullpen not as good but still good, and the offense about the same. So really the culprit will be most likely injuries, and in terms of depth we are good with SP, defense, and bullpen. Offense not so much.
