Starting pitching; How do we become more consistent per start?

Played enough sports to know that you not going to have your best stuff every time out. It's a given. Still ... over the past few years it seems we have been very inconsistent every 4/5 days out and only last year did Gonzalex, Tillman, Hammel before he got hurt and Chen early, give us a consistent solid start.

Is it a physical, mental or mechanical thing for the most part. The way Buck uses his starters it would not be a matter of fatigue (maybe was for Chen toward the end). Certainly not a exclusive Oriole problem, but what do you think would or could improve this area?

The pitching got a lot more consistent in the second half of the season. If they can continue that then they will be fine.

For what it's worth: In 2011, the Orioles had 35 starts of less than 5 IP. In 2012, that was reduced to 29 starts. The big offenders were Arreita (7 of 18 starts were less than 5 IP), Britton (4 of 12), and Matusz (4 of 16).
