Chris Davis spring training defense thread.

I figured this could use it's own thread. With all the talk about his defense and if he will be good enough to hold it down. I for one am VERY excited about him. I can't wait to see what he does this spring with the glove. And we got him for Koji.

2/23 - Big boy had a good day.

Chris Davis had two hits, a good scoop on a Machado throw, a lunging stop down the line and a backhanded stop.

Yes exceptional game today, 3 really good plays defensively and he hit the ball hard. His only slight misplay was a foul ball that was pushed into the stands by the wind that he might have been able to get to. You don't try those catches in Spring Training

Swing hard, just in case you hit something

Never a doubt. Cue the Reynolds apologists.

It's all about whether or not he has soft enough hands to handle the throws. There's no doubt in my mind he can field his position given how athletic he is.

I would really like to request that the folks who get out to these games give their opinions. I'm sure that we will get an ear-full from Roch, considering this should be a hot topic, but I'd like more than one perspective. Please and thank you.

I am extremely excited about him.

True. His range will definitely be far better than Reynolds' was. That was never the concern.

I think we'll have to wait a good month or two into the season before these people are no longer posting

So, you think Gold Glove consideration is a little premature?

Digging throws out of the dirt or short hop throws in bang bang situations should tell the tell. He looked very confident and comfortable today.

I think it'd be safe to chisel it in stone by now. 2 great plays in just ONE game.

I was thinking more along the lines of defensive metrics title holder for 2013. Too much?
