The Orioles are expected to make their first cuts today. Any guesses?

    I'm thinking:

    Avery
    Romero
    Dickerson
    Ishikawa
    Wright
    Gausman
    Bundy

Could all be on their way to the minor league facility to prepare for their seasons.

Not so sure about Dickerson. Given that Davis is healthy and has been adequate defensively, Ishikawa - another lefty hitter - looks like AAA depth, at this point. Avery and Hoes could both be sent out with Robinson and all of the right-handed corner outfield / first base candidates left in camp. Pridie could be headed down, as well. And, many of these guys could still see some playing time in spring games later. With 60 guys in camp, 7 or 8 is not much of a cut.

I know it'd be good to see Gausman and Bundy sent down so they can prepare for the season and settle in, etc but I have enjoyed seeing their names in the box scores. I hope they at least wait for one more round of cuts before sending them down.

I think some of the OF/1B surplus will be sent down today. Isikawa, Hoes, Avery, maybe even Pridie or Dickerson since the competition seems pretty much set between Jackson, Valencia, Pearce, and Canzler for that last spot.

I think Romero, Wright, and Gil. Probably Pridie too. Without Adam and Nick here, I think maybe they will keep AVery and Hoes through another round.

I have no idea, but I could envision a scenario where Buck keeps Bundy and Gausman around to get as good of a look at them as he can. These are two guys that we might need to hitch our wagon to in a few months. Buck *might* prefer to better know what he has on his hands, though at some point they're obviously going to be sent down.

For the rest of the guys, I suspect it'll be more about fielding a roster that allows our regulars some time off then it will be about talent. The competitions for 24/25th man on the roster don't involve that many players.

I don't think they cut Dickerson and Ishikawa this early. Not that either have a chance of making the team but I think part of the reason these AAAA players decided to sign with the O's was that they'd get a real look (even if it isn't real) in the spring. I expect guys like MCutchen, Romero, San Miguel, Eduardo Rodriguez to go. Gausman and Bundy are maybe's but probably in the next cut.

OK, then they'll probably be sent down after that. The goal is to get them ready and stretched out to start every five days in the minors this year. That probably makes sense because minor league games should start next week.

I really hope Dickerson and Ishi aren't cut yet. But Conner Jackson and Steve Pearce have practically buried them in the dust so far that it's pretty much a foregone conclusion at this point.

I agree with all the guys you mentioned except I'd expect Schlereth over McCutchen.

Schlereth is a good possibility. He probably needs to be working on mechanical changes to improve his control, than worrying about impressing in ML ST games.

It'll probably just be a few of the no-name or super-young guys who will still end up probably making some road trips or filling in late innings.

    Marin
    Romero
    Gil
    some relievers?

I would think they'd get as many innings in the ML camp as they could, then start the stretching out process in camp and have the same 3/4/5 inning starts in the MiL regular season. Why do you think they'd get sent down this early?

I don't think Marin is technically on the ST roster so technically he can't get cut. I was going to put Rob Delaney on my list but same deal.

What is Zach Braddock's status? I thought he was a non-roster invitee. I know he's coming off of injury and probably isn't ready to pitch yet. But, I haven't heard a word about him.

Agree with this. With Jones out for WBC and Reimold limited, I expect Dickerson and Robinson to stay around for a while. And, Duquette clearly liked Ishikawa, so he may stick for a while. He has no role with Davis playing well, but I think they keep him in ML camp for a while.
