"What you saw (Sunday) was everything we'd rehearsed, every single day, leading up to the event," said Ralph Reiff, who often runs the emergency medical crew at major sports events in Indianapolis. "You have a switch, and you do what you need to do."

The Louisville guard underwent successful surgery, and is already getting around on crutches, preparing to make the trip to his hometown of Atlanta to watch him teammates play in the Final Four.

Nice post, they did seem to do a fantastic job from the replay's I saw.

I think the teammate who was able to stay with Ware and tap him on the chest deserves some kudos as well, while no one else could look on (that would have been me too), he was right there with Ware trying to help as best he could, was nice to see.

Hopefully Ware is capable of a full recovery.

TWO YEARS LATER:

Amazingly, Ware actually came back and played 9 games last year for Louisville. ) O.o

He was able to get a red-shirt by sitting out the rest of the season, and transferred to Georgia State.

Ware had the best season of his career this year, starting for the first time ever (he was a reserve at Louisville), and helping lead the 14th-seeded Panthers to a stunning upset of #3-seeded Baylor in the N.C.A.A. tournament before they fell to Xavier in a tightly-contested Round of 32 game.

Ware has one more year of eligibility left (he will be a 5th-year senior next season.)

It will be great to see if his new team (Georgia State) can match or better what they were able to accomplish this season. )

Ware is getting more playing time and scoring more pointed per game than he has n his entire 5-year college career now:

I'm happy for him, and glad to see that he is apparently faring very well, 3 years after his gruesome injury.
