They lost seven in a row.

This team has just been punched in the mouth, and knocked on their asses.

Now, can they sustain that battering, and still maintain their position of being a contender for a playoff birth and/or the division title ???

If not, can they AT LEAST get back up and finish the season with a solid, respectable 85-77, 86-76, etc. record ???

If they can at least accomplish the latter, then it would appear to that Jim Crane and Jeff Luhnow's position (and assertion) in regard to the Astros having a bright future in overall would still be intact.

If they CANNOT at least accomplish the latter, they (Crane and Luhnow) may be correct about the Astros' future (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, etc.) ...... but they will be likely get a LOT of grief in relation to the Astros being the same old Astros, their fast start to the 2015 season was a fluke and a mirage, etc.

The Astros have answered the bell in a resounding manner.

Prior to today's loss, they won 6 out of their last 7 games.

The Rangers and the Angels pushed, and the Astros pushed right back.

And they have done it again !!!

The Astros stumbled into the All-Star break having lost 8 out of their last 9 games, including 6 straight.

That, combined with the fact that the Angels came on like gangbusters (actually overtaking the Astros for 1st place), and it looked like this young, fun bunch might have met their match for the A.L. West division ...... NOT !!!

The Astros just won their 5th straight game, and 6th out of their last 7 since the All-Star break.

We're well past the halfway mark in the season, well past the point of their stamina as a bonafide contender being in question ...... and, good for them.

Hamel explains why he blocked the trade to the Astros...kinda.

http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/cole-hamels-texas-rangers-houston-astros-no-trade-clause-aj-hinch-080415

Near as I can tell he blocked the trade because he could. They were on the list.

He used the power because he had the power.

Me I think the Astos are in much better shape going forward then the Rangers.

(AUGUST 12th)

A much-needed win over the Giants in San Francisco this afternoon.

Previously, the Astros had lost 8 out of their last 11 games.

Former Oriole Scott Feldman led the way by throwing 6 shutout innings against the northern Californians.
