Extrapolating the Numbers over a Full season

The minor league teams play a 140 game schedule. Most are right around the 40 game mark which is 35% of the games.

    Christian Walker - Bowie
    31 homeruns - 115 RBI - .321 AVG

    Dariel Alvarez - Bowie

    21 homeruns - 108 RBI .340 AVG

    Glynn Davis - Frederick

    35 doubles 10 triples 3 homeruns 31 stolen bases .342 AVG

    Hunter Harvey - Delmarva

    25 starts - 136 IP - 66 hits - 52 walks - 157 strikeouts

Obviously, it's not as simple as this but it's interesting to see what kind of path some of these guys are on. Glynn Davis has never had more than 17 doubles, 3 triples, and 2 homers in an entire year. His current rates take him into new territory and suggest he's getting stronger and better.

Christian Walker's biggest question was about him being able to develop his power. So far, it looks like he's doing just that. He could put up an impressive season at Bowie if he stays there all year.

Harvey's numbers would put him amongst the top pitching prospects in the lower minors, if not all of baseball. Of course, we might expect the hits to increase a little and the walks to decrease some.

Alvarez is doing better than I expected and putting up a strong season. However, at age 25, it's hard to get too excited until we see what he does in AAA.

No way Harvey isn't promoted at some point. His number will likely take a hit at that point even if his prospect status doesn't.

More like 28.6% of the season.

My bad. However, if you multiply there stats by 3.5 you get what they would be over a 140 game season at the 40 game mark.

I divided backwards to get the percentage. Should have divided 40 by 140 instead of the other way. Still, the numbers should be right but the percentage of games played is as you say, 28.6%

I wouldn't mind seeing Walker spend all/most of the year in AA. He's not too old. Let him put up a monster year before moving on to Norfolk's ball park. Plus it increases his trade value. At this rate he's going to end up a AA all star and probably a futures star again. That would be huge. Send him to the AFL after that and see what the market is for him.
