Should the O'S bring back Alejandro De Aza?

Should the O's bring back Alejandro De Aza? Is he a free agent or arbitration eligible for the last time? How much would it cost to bring him back? I would like the Orioles to bring him back as long as it cost 5 million or less. He played well for the Orioles.

He's in his final year of arbitration. He made 4.25 last season. I think his return is ultimately tied to Markakis' return. I don't see them both back, IMO.

I like him and would like him back for the 5.5 he is likely to command.

I think he'll be back. He's a decent corner outfielder who will be relatively inexpensive. He also could be packaged with another player in a deal somewhere.

DD spoke very highly of him, giving the impression that they believe he's capable of out producing his previous numbers.

Exactly. He will be our left fielder next year. One less issue to worry about.

I know I read some where that De Aza was not able to have a normal off season last year which explains why he had a poor year for the White Sox. I really like him too and would rather have him than David Lough. De Aza can either be our starting left fielder or fourth outfielder.

I would rather have Lough for the MLB minimum than De Aza for $5.5 million.

I honestly can't understand why people seem to prefer De Aza to Lough. Is there an actual concrete statistic we're using to make that decision or is it just the eye test?

Both players have rough splits facing LHP. De Aza is older, but not old. De Aza has an edge offensively, but it really isn't very much unless we're assuming 2015 will be a bounceback year. Lough is without a doubt the superior defender and costs significantly less.

Its a little early to know, but I could see De Aza as a platoon leftfielder. With Pearce and possibly Paredes on the team as the righthanded side of the platoon.

I think De Aza is a more proven product with better plate discipline than Lough and probably more power potential as well. I'm guessing Lough will be around if De Aza flounders.

Career wise DeAza is a 99 wRC+ (mostly as a starter) and Lough is a 92. I also think De Aza could be optimized more in a platoon situation.

Depends on if the Orioles feel confident in bringing Markakis back. If De Aza is non tendered, that pretty much gurantees we're going to make a very strong push to keep Nick.

Considering the lack of speed/LHH on the team I can see the redundancy of Lough and De Aza over looked. I would keep him, he looked like a decent player...he got hot when he saw opportunity, that's the type of player that usually sticks with Buck/Dan.
