Red Sox trade for Varvaro from Atlanta

Been really good for last two years and Atlanta traded him for basically nothing at all and cash. Red Sox continue to get better.

Yeah, that surprised me because Varvaro was cheap and solid, but he's 30, and Atlanta likes the return of Aaron Kurcz - who could be a 23 year old version of Varvaro with more upside (and more downside).

He's coming off his best season, but isn't that impressive in today's environment. Career K and walk numbers are nothing special, pitched less than an inning per game last year. Throws 92. Steamer projects him for 55 innings of a 3.77, which is a notch down from Tommy Hunter.
