Negotiations for Dan Duquette are over after the Toronto Blue Jays refused to consider the Baltimore Orioles’ demands for promising right-hander Jeff Hoffman and two other top prospects as compensation for the executive.

A deal between the American League East rivals was at no point close, and it appears a saga that’s lingered since word first leaked on the eve of the winter meetings in December is at last over.

Can't wait to read Rosenthal's take on the greedy Orioles. Actually, yes I can.

If the O's could have received a top prospect or two in exchange for Duquette, I'm actually a little upset that this may not happen, especially after reading Roch's article about how the organization would still be "in good hands" if Dan left, not to mention any concerns over his now possibly damaged relationship with Angelos.

But, if the O's were only going to get back a fringe prospect, middle reliever or Dioner Navarro, I'm really glad we can move on.

Hoffman would have been nice.
