So I was looking at a few early 2015 MLB mock draft websites and I noticed that more than one site projected us to take Demi Orimoloye, a 6'4, 225 OF from St. Matthews Catholic High School in Florida. I know it is WAY too early to guess at who the Orioles will take but I am going to go ahead and keep my fingers crossed and hope that the pundits are correct that we nab this kid. Reason #1 is because our farm system is lacking top offensive prospects. Reason #2...and this is the MAIN reason...the kid has "ORIOLE" spelled in his last name! C'mon...that CAN'T be coincedental! LOL.

While mock drafts are largely a silly exercise in any event, doing one before the 2015 college and high school season has even been played is even more silly. But, I definitely can dig the Orioles picking a guy with "Oriole" in his name.

You should email the site and let them know Saint Matthew HS is in Orleans, Ontario. Demi is a member of the Ontario Blue Jays travel ball club.

Anyone got a list of the picks for the orioles? I know there are a bunch in the top 100 but it would be a good reference to have them laid out.
With James Shields in agreement with SD, he is the final QO free agent to sign, and SD will lose the #13 pick by signing him.

This moves the Orioles' first round pick up to #25. They have the following picks now:

#25

#36 (Cruz)

#68

#74 (Competitive Balance B)

#102

Last year their first pick was #90.

Is there a good (and free) source for Top 100 or Top 250 names to keep an eye on through this spring? With 5 picks in the top 100, it would be nice to be able to track some guys as we move through the first part of the year.

http://www.baseballamerica.com/college/2015-college-baseball-season-preview-index/ This BA college preview index has reviews for each conference that includes a list of top draft prospects.

http://http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/2015-mlb-draft-top-51/ This has over 100 names to track.

Can never have enough pitching, but it would be nice if we drafted more position players this time around...

I'd like to see a repeat of 2013, except with the focus on MI and CF instead of C. I'd also lean LHP because it seems other teams want our LHP in trades and we are okay with trading them.

They will select No. 25 overall in the first round, No. 36 overall (compensation for losing Nelson Cruz), No. 68 in the second round, No. 74 (competitive balance round B pick that can be traded) and No. 102 in the third round.

The Orioles select 28th in each round thereafter.

With more high picks, the O's pool for bonus is the ninth-most of any organization at $7,677,400. Last year, it was the lowest of any team at $2,204,400.

Let's say you receive a text from your future self reporting the O's first 5 draft picks as: #25 Alonzo Jones, HS 2b, #36 Chandler Day, HS rhp, #68 Cadyn Grenier, HS ss, #74 Cole Irvin, U of Oregon lhp and #102 Kal Simmons, Kennesaw St ss.

After getting past the shock of receiving this text from the future, what would you think of this draft after 3 rounds?

I would be surprised that they went HS/HS/HS.

I don't understand why someone would be drafted as a 2B, shortstops generally get moved to second when they can't hack it at short.

If it was me I would consider burning one of the five picks on a signability pick to free up money for the other four.

I don't feel qualified to specifically judge the players you named.
