Good OP. Not worried. Remember that Cowser, Gunnar, and Adley, all struggled to some degree for being too selective when first called up. We’re a young team. The umps made our guys “earn it” last year and the team adjusted. I think this also shows how Elias, Sigbot, and Hyde coaching staff, are all not locked into one idea. They can adapt. Cowser and Westburg have benefitted the most so far. Hopefully, we’ll start to get some respect from the umps more consistently and we don’t have to be so aggressive. But for right now, it’s working. -
If he threw 3 innings in under 40 pitches, I’d be totally cool with that. 😎 -

That's fair, and he does do those things well. We can agree to disagree that the other stuff that we happen to disagree about gets in the way. -
Yes, I wonder what his playing time would have looked like if he’d played in the AL in his 20’s.

What do we know about his current catch and throw skills? My recollection is that he was not a defensive wizard as a youngster. Have these improved? I also recall some questions about conditioning and the ability to be behind the plate during the Dog Days of summer. -

I’m just reminding you there are worse alternatives. Everything you’ve said about Brown is fair enough, though I happen to like things like the Rutschman grounder to Witt observation. What I want in a TV PBP guy is: 1. A good voice. 2. The ability to convey that the game is interesting, even when it’s not. 3. A good rapport with the color guy and the ability to use questions to get the color guy to use their expert knowledge of the game and convey it to the audience. 4. Knowing when it’s appropriate to get a little excited. 5. Being well prepared and knowing stuff about both teams that most viewers don’t, and inserting that information at opportune times. I score Brown very high on all five criteria. Puns and cultural references, or the lack of them, aren’t on my list of what’s important.
