Drew Dosch continued to scorch the baseball for the Keys. His four for five with a double earns him the honors of Orioles MiLB player of the day. Again.

Tides [AAA] Lost 2 to 1

Tyler Wilson pitched seven innings and allowed two earned runs. He stuck out only two but walked none.

Chris Parmelee, Dariel Alvarez and Nolan Reimold each had two hits.

Baysox [AA] Won 3 to 1

Dylan Bundy only pitched one inning plus a batter today. He walked one. Allowed a hit. Gave up no runs. A rain delay ended his evening.

Bobby Bundy relieved him and pitched three perfect innings.

Keys [A+] Won 12 to 10

Jeff Kemp collected three hits. Drew Dosch doubled for one of his four, he drove in three . Kemp homered for one of his and drove in two.

FREDERICK, Md. –The Frederick Keys saw an eight-run lead shrink to a one-run advantage, but managed to fend off the Winston-Salem Dash 12-10 on Tuesday night at Nymeo Field. Holding a 9-1 edge through the first four innings, Winston-Salem scored seven times in the seventh thanks to two home runs, but the orange and black thwarted a late-inning inning comeback. The victory ends the Keys four-game losing streak, and moves the club back into a tie for first place in the Carolina League North Division.

Tuesday’s offensive showing was the best by Frederick this year. Tallying season-highs in runs and hits (16) the club did its best work in the first inning. Facing Dash right-hander Robinson Leyer for the second time, the Keys scored five times on six hits and sent 10 men to bat. After the first three reached to open the home-first, Trey Mancini brought in the first run on an RBI fielder’s choice. Brenden Webb followed with a soft single to right, while a second groundout and a catcher’s interference call loaded the bases.

Working with two outs, Anthony Hewitt singled in Mancini and Anthony Caronia plated Adrian Marin and Steel Russell with a two-run single to complete the scoring. The five runs and six hits in the frame were the most by the Keys in an individual inning this year.

A Keenyn Walker RBI single got the Dash on the board in the second, but the Keys rebuilt the five-run cushion with a solo home run to left by Jeff Kemp. In the third, that lead ballooned to eight. With men at first and second Kemp added his second RBI with a single to center and Drew Dosch doubled in Tucker Nathans and Kemp.

Although the lead seemed safe, Winston-Salem would not go down without a fight. Cleuluis Rondon hit a solo homer in the fifth, off Keys starter Jhonathan Ramos before the visitors added seven of the next eight markers.

If not for a double play by Russell in the sixth which scored Webb, the Dash would have tied the game in the seventh. The two big blows were a grand slam by Trey Michalczewski and a three-run homer by Nick Basto in an inning that saw 10 Winston-Salem hitters come to bat. Dylan Rheault surrendered the first longball after a walk and two singles, while back-to-back free passes by Williams Louico set the table for Basto. It was the second time in three days Frederick had been victimized by a seven-run inning, and the third time the pitching staff had surrendered seven runs in a stanza this year.

With the lead down to 10-9, the Keys responded with two runs in the seventh inning. A single by Caronia, a stolen base, a wild pitch and a walk to Kemp put men at first and third for Dosch who drove in his third run with a single to right. Kemp and Dosch then executed a successful double steal before a passed ball by Omar Narvaez scored Kemp.

Cody Wheeler would try and hold things in check after closing out the seventh, but the eighth would not be smooth. Walker singled to open the inning and advanced to third following a wild pitch, a single and a double-steal. Michalczewski then brought home Walker on a groundout, while a walk to Keon Barnum put the tying run aboard at first. Needing an out with runners at the corners, Chris Jacobs grounded out to end the inning.

In the ninth, Wheeler (2-0) got back on track, striking out the side to finish the job. Leyer (0-4) was tagged with the loss, allowing nine runs (eight earned) over 2.2 innings. The two sides combined for 14 walks on the game, with Frederick arms walking nine. In his Keys debut, Ramos allowed two runs (one earned) in 4.2 innings on five hits.

Named the Orioles organizational player of the month for April earlier in the day, Dosch tied his career-high for hits (four) to go along with three RBIs. He finished 4-for-5 on the day. Kemp also enjoyed a four-hit night, going 4-for-4 with a homer, two RBIs and four runs scored.

Bowie, Md. - The Baysox had to battle a 1 hour, 19 minute rain delay during the second inning but stayed dry and sunk the RubberDucks 3-0 Tuesday night to take the second game in the series and win their fourth-in-a-row overall.

The Baysox pitching staff allowed just five hits, despite starter Dylan Bundy coming out of the game in the first inning because of the rain delay. Bobby Bundy replaced his brother on the mound after the delay, throwing 3.1 scoreless innings and allowing one hit while walking two and striking out two in the win. Reliever Ben Rowen threw 2.2 scoreless innings, allowing just one hit. Mychal Givens picked up his fourth save of the season, allowing one run over the final two innings.

Baltimore Orioles infielders J.J. Hardy and Ryan Flaherty were once again in the Baysox lineup, playing in Bowie on Major League Rehab Assignments. The duo combined to go 2-for-7 with a walk and Hardy also struck out twice. The pair also combined to turn a key double play with one-out and the bases loaded in the top of the fifth inning to get the Baysox out of a bases loaded jam.

The Baysox scored first in the bottom of the first inning against Akron starter Cody Anderson. Mike Yastrzemski hit a lead-off single to center field and moved to second base on a Ryan Flaherty single to center field. Sean Halton singled to right field to load the bases and Yastrzemski then scored from third on a wild pitch to give the Baysox a 1-0 lead.

Bowie added a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth inning against Akron reliever Benny Suarez. Halton singled, Brandon Snyder doubled to center field and Jason Esposito walked to load the bases before Louis Head replaced Suarez on the mound. With one out, Chris O'Brien brought two runs home with a double to center field to give the Baysox a 3-0 lead.

Akron's only run of the game came in the top of the ninth inning against Givens. Yandy Diaz drew a one-out walk before Tony Wolters and Jordan Smith hit back-to-back singles to plate Diaz and break up the shutout.

Syracuse, NY (5/5/2015) - The Syracuse Chiefs beat the Norfolk Tides in comeback fashion on Tuesday night, winning 2-1. Chiefs pitcher Scott McGregor threw seven innings, only allowing one run. Kila Ka'aihue hit the go-ahead solo home run for the Chiefs in the bottom of the seventh.

Norfolk (13-13) was first on the board tonight, putting up a run in the top of the fourth. Right fielder Chris Parmelee led off the inning with a double to deep right-center field. After advancing to third on a fielder's choice, catcher Steve Clevenger came to the plate. In only his second at-bat since returning from the disabled list, Clevenger skied a fly ball to Kevin Mattison in left field. Parmelee tagged and Mattison's throw was on line, but struck Parmelee allowing him to score to put the Tides up one.

Syracuse (11-15) got its first run of the night in the bottom of the sixth. Tides starter Tyler Wilson gave up back-to-back singles to catcher Steve Lerud and Mattison. Shortstop Manny Burriss grounded into a fielder's choice, advancing Lerud to third, but forcing Mattison out at second. With Lerud on third and Burriss on first, right fielder Tony Gwynn, Jr., singled to center, driving in Lerud and evening the score at one.

The Chiefs struck again in the bottom of the seventh. Ka'aihue led off the inning with a solo blast over the right-field fence to give Syracuse a 2-1 advantage. The homerun was Ka'aihue's third of the season.

Evan Meek came in in relief in the ninth for Eric Fornataro, who pitched one inning in relief for Chiefs starter Scott McGregor. Meek surrendered a leadoff triple to center fielder Dariel Alvarez. Alvarez hit a line drive off the right-field wall that bounced away from Gwynn for a triple. Despite the leadoff triple, Meek got the next two batters out before walking shortstop Paul Janish. Meek clinched the save on the next batter, when he forced left fielder Nolan Reimold into a groundout to second base.

Wow, 1 hour and 19 minutes rain delay. I live 15 minutes from the Bowie Stadium, and we only got a hard 10 minute rain storm roll through. Funny how the weather can be.
