We are cheap, proven

I have developed a new baseball metric. You stat heads should all get on board. I call it cWar. C stands for caring. What I have done is taken the profits for each team, divided it by the opening day salary and multiplied by 100. We stand 24th in all of baseball in cWar. The year is 2015 and I will provide links for the payroll and operating income. There has been widespread debate over whether we should have signed Cruz, whether we should have signed Miller, whether we are smart to be cheap and not signed anyone. Well, here is the bottom line. Our ownership should have opened up the pocketbooks more then they did. No surprise we didn't, this team has been raking in profits and shortchanging the fans for years. Yes, I know it's an imperfect metric. Much like all the wars and, especially, the defensive metrics. But, it is a metric that makes sense and is a starting point for holding ownership accountable.

Are you actually trying to prove a point here? The Cubs and Cardinals care the least about winning? And the Phillies care the most?

No metric is perfect. Most on this board hold their metrics sacrosanct. They shouldn't. Personally, if you take a close look at this, I think it proves my point. No, the cards and cubs aren't cheap but, at least the cubs have been in rebuilding mode for years. Wait til Arietta costs them 20 million. It will bring them to the middle of the pack.

The only point this proves is that you wasted your Friday night.

I don't think your metric is sustainable.
