Congratulations, Buck on Win #400 With the Orioles

He needs only eight more wins to move past Hank Bauer for sole possession of third place in career wins as Orioles manager (Orioles, not counting the Browns). 518 wins moves past Paul Richards for second behind Weaver, and barring some really bad fortune, the team will get him to that some time next season. Richards of course got to that point having to direct a team that despite being an existing franchise that was made over as if it were an expansion team and completely changing the culture of a team. Different eras, but on some level, Buck's very much had a Paul Richards like effect on this team.

Johnny Oates should never have been let go by the PGA regime.

Cal Sr., got a raw deal from Roland Hemmond.

Mike Hargrove, like Dave Trembley, had no players. They deserved better.

I know this thread is about Buck, but Earl's .583 winning percentage...wow. That's 94.4 wins per 162 game season, over a very long managerial career. It's mind boggling.
If he maintains his current winning percentage, Buck would pass Earl.....in another 2,032 games, or sometime late in 2027. It's safe to say, Earl will remain the all-time winner.

He could never increase his winning percentage to pass Earl before then because apparently the players aren't loyal enough.
