"I'll tell you what ? you don't see a guy improve that much in that short of a time very often," said Kennie Steenstra, the High-A Frederick pitching coach.

Said Orioles manager Buck Showalter: "Mostly you see it in high school from the 10th grade to the 11th grade to the 12th grade. You don't see it at ? 22, 23 [years old]. You usually don't see it that late."

Lee, 23, was one of 15 young arms at the Orioles' pitching minicamp this week after the team's minor league staff had a hand in using his athleticism and promise to mold him into a practical pitcher last summer.

The Orioles acquired Lee in a rare trade with the Houston Astros that sent two of their international signing bonus slots, valued at around $655,000.

Glad the international slots didn't go completely to waste like they have in the past. If he becomes an MLB reliever, the trade is a definite win.

Based even on just this photo, Jim Palmer would not approve. But there's not just one way to pitch. Let's see if the O's coaches like the way the ball comes out of his hand!

I'm curious what looks so bad in the picture above from a mechanics standpoint.

I'm no pitching expert but that just looks funky to me. Front arm not extended towards his target. Of course it's just one picture though.
