Most of the "volume" of the crowd comes from walk-ups on a gorgeous summer afternoon/evening, unless the game is a "Big Deal" for some reason (Opening Day, etc.)

Until the weather improves or the O's hold down first place in the East for a month, we won't see too many folks at the yard unfortunately.

If Cincinnati and Milwaukee can get over 20000 for games 2 and 3 there's no excuse for Baltimore

Who cares what other teams drew in? Why should we ever care what other teams are doing at the gate? The weather has been awful and inconsistent all week long. It's the middle of a week, the first week back to school after spring break, and the Twins are not interesting or a draw for the average fan. You can say the same for most of the AL Central teams, hence why the White Sox never draw fans here unless it's a weekend series.

The ONLY excuse is mid-week games are difficult for families and working folk. The Ravens draw despite the weather. Weather is an excuse for weak fans to be bandwagoners.

WE ARE BALTIMORE. Tough, blue collar and hardworking and hard partying. BTW, On April 5 and 6 2000, the Orioles drew 33K and 35K on Tuesday and Wednesday games against Cleveland.

I think most Orioles fans, are taking a wait and see approach to this team. The off season publicity wasn't good. Outside of rabid fan blogs and message boards, Alvarez, Trumbo and Gallardo didn't set off a frenzy of good feeling. Without regard to the their quality, most fans didn't really know these guys.

We all go to 25+ games a year, not including Bowie and Frederick, but many fans only go to a few unless there's already excitement.

You do realize that prior to the mid to late 80's, the Orioles had trouble drawing fans out when they were the best team in baseball. It was not uncommon to have crowds with less people than what the Orioles had the last two nights. Lets not act like Orioles fans have always shown up to the park in April, because outside of the first few years at Camden Yards, April is a bad time to go to the park for a multitude of reasons. The NFL also is an irrelevant argument, and so is what happened 16 years ago.
