Statcast fastest throw

Just Regular

I never would have guessed that, either. But an outfielder that's able to take a crow hop and throw should be able to throw it pretty damn hard. Chapman doesn't have that luxury.

In the 1880s there was a time where the pitcher threw from a box drawn on flat ground that allowed for short run up or hop. From something like 50'. To a catcher with no pads and a primitive glove. It's amazing they survived.

Was that over or under hand?

Uhh... yes. From roughly 1870-something through 1884 they annually changed the rules, evolving from pure underhand with a stiff wrist/no snap (i.e. like cricket) to pretty much a modern delivery without the mound. Ks went through the roof, from maybe one per nine to One Arm Daily's 19 (or maybe 20?) strikeout UA game in under a decade.

Wow. Velencia was probably like, "What the hell is that arm doing in LF?"

I'd love to see some stat cast measurements on some of Manny's throws from 3B.

88.9 MPH
