The only downside was the fact that he gave out 4 free passes (2 walks and 2 hit batsmen) in only 6 innings, and his strikes-to-balls ratio wasn't that great.

Other than that, the numbers look marvelous.

The only run that Gonzalez ceded was on an infield single with 2 outs in the 5th inning.

Also, for the 2nd consecutive outing, all of the hits that Gonzalez ceded were singles.

Another excellent outing from Gonzalez. Good to see him start to find his way.

As an aside, thanks for taking the time to post these numbers. I check in on the Minors side every day and your updates are helpful.

Nice story unfolding here. Any word on why the dramatic improvement over last year?

No expert insight here, but he's repeating this level after having a pretty terrible 2015. He's still only 20 years old so he's on a good path if this sticks. Despite being our first selection in 2014, he was just a 3rd rounder. I never expected a ton out of him, but if he makes his way into a big league rotation it's a bonus.

I feel like over the years we've had pretty good success with our third rounders making it to the majors. Zach Britton is probably at the top of the list over the last 10-15 years.

Forget about poor Dan Klein and Tyler Townsend. And while I was looking up Tyler Townsend, I came across this...

I didn't know Tyler Townsend was going to be the first openly gay baseball player

Interesting. I didn't realize there was a retired player Billy Bean (no e) that came out, and was hired by MLB as an "Ambassador of Inclusion."

I knew that...but not Townsend. Was OH aware of these happenings?
